A Trip to Little Quiapo

Back in the 60’s (earlier maybe) when my abuelita (grandma) was still studying at the University of Santo Tomas, she and her friends would frequent a place called Little Quiapo. The restaurant which is right across their campus serves THE BEST halo-halo and palabok in town. Fast forward to the present. Little Quiapo is now located at the back of SSS in East Avenue. I don’t know when they transferred in Quezon City. But ever since my abuelita heard about it, we would go to Little Quiapo whenever she’s craving for halo-halo or palabok. I admit that there are various restaurants that also offer delicious halo-halo and palabok; however, there’s something special about Little Quiapo’s version. As seen in the main photo, Little Quiapo which used to be a small eatery opened its first branch inside the University of the Philippines in 1949. On September 18th 2018, the restaurant celebrated its 69th year. For a restaurant to achieve that milestone, it only means one thing. They’re doing things right from the food all the way …
