A few days ago, we were searching for a dessert to enjoy on my birthday slash my blog’s 7th anniversary. I love cake, ice cream, pie or anything sweet. Then we stumbled upon Icy Madness! Let’s get to the point! With our current state, it’s best to support our lokal. It means promoting and buying local brands, especially from small businesses. If you take a look around you or your social media feed, you will find a friend who has a small business, OR just started one during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). You can help them promote their products by sharing their posts or by word-of-mouth (Please practice social distancing!). And if you like what they are selling, why not buy from them! Better yet buy it not only for yourself but also as a gift for your family and friends this Christmas!
I was randomly browsing the Foodpanda app on my smartphone a couple of days ago. The reason is I did not want to wait four more hours to buy a loaf of bread. You see, our village has a curfew since the start of ECQ. We decided not to remove it as part of the new normal. Thus, I decided to try if there is a shop that delivers in our area. While browsing, I stumbled upon a shop called Family Panaderia Co. It is a newly opened panaderia, or bakery in English, that offers homemade and fresh bread daily. I wasn’t familiar with them, which led me to do a little Googling and found their social media pages.
Are you still supporting your local vendors and small businesses? I hope you are especially this Christmas season. We need to help each other and together we can get through it. And in case you are on the lookout for new local products to support, here are two classic snacks you will love.
From Ojet’s Lecheng Maja Blanca to Lecheng Inutak, The Grocer by OLM now offers authentic Puto Bumbong just in time for the start of the Christmas season. Yes, Christmas starts early in the Philippines making it one of the longest Christmas seasons in the world. I mean come on, who wouldn’t get excited in counting down 100 days before Christmas? With what’s happening in 2020, I believe you need something great to look forward. The question now is, are you ready to taste Christmas? You see, Puto Bumbong is a Filipino purple rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes traditionally sold during the Christmas season. But since we need to stay home, let me share with you a great solution.
