Offering an exciting mix of traditional Asian and Western flavors, Oliva Bistro Cafe never fails to serve new dishes on your plate. It doesn’t matter if you prefer American, Italian, Singaporean, Indian, or Filipino cuisine because Oliva Bistro Cafe features many authentic and delicious dishes that would suit any taste.
The 54-seater restaurant is owned and managed by Chef Kannan Jayaprakash Sreedevi and his wife Eden Madridejos-Kannan. Besides the exciting mix of traditional Asian and Western flavors, the restaurant is equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable dining experience. If you hate a cramped dining area like I do, then this place is for you. It has an ample space and delightful ambiance complete with soothing sounds and friendly staff.
On my old blog, I have shared my first dining experience at Oliva Bistro Cafe. It was a great experience to be honest and that is why I visit the restaurant once in a while especially during special occasions. Sometimes I visit them more during summer. That’s the only time they serve their Halo-Halo that doesn’t scrimp on ingredients and flavor.
Speaking of special occasions, I had a post Valentine’s dinner with my ninong and lola at Oliva Bistro Cafe. Actually, I was craving for Quesadillas! Depriving yourself of cravings is not good. So I had my ninong call the restaurant first. Learning that they have it, we immediately went there for dinner.
Start the meal with a taste of Singapore. Roti Prata with Curry Sauce is one of their bestsellers and a perfect appetizer for Vegetarians. Roti which means bread and Prata which means flat, is basically a fried flour-based pancake. At first I thought it’s only good when it’s fresh off the grill. When I tried it after a few minutes, it was still good. Not to mention, the Curry Sauce was full of flavor which made the Roti Prata tastier.
Lola’s favorite, the Crab and Mango Salad with Cucumbers. Since the first time she tasted this salad, she frequently orders this one. It’s basically a complete meal for her with the vegetables, crab, and the perfectly ripe mangoes. Plus, all the ingredients are fresh – the key to a perfect salad.
Another bestseller with Asian flavor is the Hainanese Style Steamed Chicken Rice. The Hainanese Chicken Rice originated from Hainan, China, hence the name. When it was brought to Singapore, it became widely popular naming Hainanese Chicken Rice as the country’s national dish. But there is no need to leave the country to taste such wonderful dish.
Oliva Bistro Cafe’s Hainanese Style Steamed Chicken Rice is served with three different sauces namely: ginger, chili, and dark soya. It doesn’t matter which sauce you prefer because all three complements the soft and evenly cooked chicken.
Finally, the reason we dined out that day – Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla. Yes, it’s under appetizer but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a full meal. For some, it’s only tortilla bread folded with chicken and cheese filling. But this Chicken and Cheese Quesadilla is filled with sufficient grilled chicken and cheese mixture served with spicy tomato sauce.
After dinner, we discussed which dessert to try but saw the other customers receive a cupcake. Oliva Bistro Cafe has a valentines treat to all their guests – Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Vanilla Butter Cream and little red sweet heart toppings. How sweet!
