The 2013 film Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder, starred Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. The movie was a box office success, although it received mixed reviews.

I, too, have my share of criticisms, but I must admit that I enjoyed the film. Cavill is unmistakably Superman, and Adams is unmistakably Lois Lane. The explosions and action sequences were fantastic. The characters, on the other hand, do not speak much.

Although it is a hero film with multiple battle scenes, it would be wonderful to know them better. Not to mention, there were instances when I wondered, “What’s going on here? Did I fall asleep somewhere in between?”

But those were, small quibbles, and if you ignore them, Man of Steel is still a fantastic film. In the end, the less talk, the more action strategy worked.

Let’s fast forward to the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).

The fight between Superman and General Zod at the start of the film was the highlight of Man of Steel. We’re all aware of how intense it was and how it ended. This film depicted the situation on the ground.

We can see Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, making his way to his Metropolis building. When he heard the chaos, he phoned a colleague who was still in the office and instructed him to leave. So this gentleman ordered everyone to evacuate, but he did not leave the premises right away.

When Bruce arrives at his now-collapsed building, he saves one of his guards, who eventually loses his legs, as well as another girl whose mother was trapped within.

The intensity with which Superman and General Zod fought caused widespread devastation throughout Metropolis. People were injured. People were killed. This enraged Bruce Wayne/Batman.

And it was at this point that I began to see issues.

“Next time they shine your light in the sky, don’t go to it. The Bat is dead. Bury it. Consider this mercy.”

“Tell me, do you bleed? You will!”

I can see Batman’s hatred, which is understandable! It is, after all, Batman versus Superman. But, if that’s the case, why isn’t he trying to figure out who Superman is?

Shouldn’t you look into your enemy’s identity besides his “kryptonite” weakness before attacking? Isn’t it challenging to forgive and befriend someone you dislike, even if your moms have the same name?

“Save Martha”

“Why did you say her name?!”

I wanted to see more of our two most important characters battle, as in FIGHT to the point we do not know whose side to support.

Then… there’s Lex Luthor.

“We know better now, don’t we? Devils don’t come from hell beneath us. No, they come from the sky.”

“Boys! Mm, Bruce Wayne meets Clark Kent. Ah, I love it! I love bringing people together! How are we?”

I’m assuming Lex Luthor knows them, which is excellent because he can mess with them. Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg, is a unique character. It has both positive and negative aspects. I’m undecided, but one thing is for sure, I despise his files!

Why is it that every metahuman already has a logo? I don’t mind Easter eggs, but they must be subtle to entice viewers. There’s no need to follow in the footsteps of Marvel.

I enjoy DC because it is dark and serious. Only three scenes in the film made me laugh, and that was OK with me. Instead of overwhelming the audience, fans, and new generations of fans, they should embrace that style and weave the DC Extended Universe with care.

Moving forward, Diana Prince / Wonder Woman’s participation was incredibly valuable. During her action sequences, the music and sound effects were fantastic! She rescued it in some way because I was able to enjoy every moment of it. I hope the early battle scenes were half as good as hers.

UPDATES: Deleted Scenes

April 03, 2016. I just saw this clip.

“Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is different,” I said in this post. It has both positive and negative aspects. But it revealed Lex Luthor, THE villain we’d been waiting for, in this 44-second clip. It’s a cool sequence with a significant plot aspect. Though Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is unique, I think he does a fantastic job portraying him.

So why remove such a scene? Plus, another scene which I learned from CINEMABLEND.

Future Films…

I’m hoping they’ll do a good job with the next batch of films. Many people are excited to see their entire universe on screen. I also hope they won’t forget the narrative.

You should see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice if you haven’t already. Different people have various expectations. There’s a chance you’ll enjoy it, hate it, or both.

But still, happy viewing! 🙂
