Observing Holy Week 2014

Christ has risen! Catholics around the globe celebrate Easter which signifies the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

But before Easter, Catholics went on a journey which started on Ash Wednesday. They started preparing themselves and made their sacrifices. Some gave up eating meat or their favorite food while some gave up a certain activity. I gave up eating meat every Friday and gave up using may tablet to read books. Lastly, I made my confession before Holy Monday.

Besides those, I never missed Visita Iglesia which we do on Maundy Thursday and hear the Siete Palabras on Good Friday.

My family and I visit seven churches and pray two Stations of the Cross in each. We usually visit in different cities; however, as my abuela grew older she also grew tired easily. So three years ago, we started visiting different churches in our city.

We started our Visita Iglesia at exactly 7:30 PM. Below are the churches we visited.

Sanctuario de San Vicente de Paul

Saint Vincent Church, Tandang Sora QC.

I must say, this is the most beautiful one. The candles on the sides were kind of hot; however, their light made the ambiance more solemn. I did not care about the heat of the candles. I just wanted to stay there and pray for a long time.
