π Breakfast & Pies: All Day, Everyday

Teacher’s Village is one of my favorite places in Quezon City. It practically has everything you need such as a place to eat, to hang out with friends or to do your school work. After college; however, I rarely find myself walking the various “Ma” streets of Teacher’s Village. Fortunately, my friend and high school batchmate invited me to go on a food adventure.

And that’s where I learned about Π Breakfast & Pies.

Behind Breakfast & Pies
Do the names Chef Ed Bugia, Alessandra Lanot and PJ Lanot sound familiar? Well, they are the people behind Pino Resto Bar, Pipino Vegetarian, BRGR: The Burger Project and now a new food joint called Π Breakfast & Pies.

Π stands for Pi, yes Pi as in 3.14. According to reports, the name was thought of first and the breakfast concept came later. It made perfect sense because there was no breakfast place in Maginhawa at that time.

With Π Breakfast & Pies, people can enjoy the comfort that breakfast and pies can give all day, every day. The all-day breakfast joint which is right next to Pino Resto & Bar also serve fresh bread, gourmet waffles and home-made pies.

Our Breakfast
As mentioned earlier, my friend took me on a food adventure and our first stop was Π Breakfast & Pies. Since it was my first time there, I did not know what to order. I read the menu twice and found out that all the food offered seemed delicious.

I wasn’t able to check online about their bestseller because I was not informed where we will be having our breakfast. So, I told my friend to order for me.

He ordered the following:

Huevos Rancheros
zucchini, eggplant, sweet potato, beans, tomato, bacon, chicken skin, bell peppers, cheddar and ricotta cheese, cilantro, eggs, italian sausage (P275)

This one is mine. Though I haven’t tasted all that is offered, I can definitely say this is my favorite food at Π Breakfast & Pies. I love bread, chicken skin, egg, sausage, and vegetables. Everything I want all in one dish and it tastes perfect.

Kitayama Wagyu Beef Sirloin Tapa
served with garlic kimchi fried rice, six minute egg and atchara (P225)

My friend ordered this one. He was sitting across from me and I could smell the food he ordered. It was mouthwatering. I wasn’t surprised that it tasted delicious.

Smores Pie
homemade marshmallow, chocolate fudge, graham crust (P130)

I am not a fan of marshmallows but I’ve always had a craving for Smores. Π Breakfast & Pies’ version of Smores Pie is really something. The layers of graham, chocolate fudge and marshmallows topped with small kissable chocolates were pure bliss. My sweet tooth was greatly satisfied.

Smack Pie

You might be thinking, shouldn’t it be called Crack? I was searching for an updated menu; however, I kept on seeing Crack listed instead of Smack. Luckily, I stumbled upon TWENTY8TWO. It says there that, the recipe was altered to suit the local taste by Chef Ed and thus, renamed it Smack.

I don’t know how the original one tasted but Smack was a delight. Do not be fooled by the thin structure of this pie because Smack (their version of Momofuku’s Milk Bar) has a deliciously soft and gooey center with a crispy crust.  (P155)

Pino Iced Tea

If you want to eat at Π Breakfast & Pies, they are located at 39 Malingap, Teachers Village, Quezon City. They are open daily from 7am to 10pm. For deliveries, you may call 2121212. For reservations & pickups call 4411773.

Happy Eating!

  2. I usually eat at Maginhawa and I’ve been eyeing that place since it opened. Never really had a chance to go there because I’m always craving for my fave restos there. Haha! Hopefully, I’ll get to try this one soon!
