Have you seen the latest installment of the American epic space opera? If your answer is no but plan to do so due to questions left unanswered by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I suggest you to stop expecting anything.
I’m not saying Star Wars: The Last Jedi is bad because it definitely is not. But casual movie goers, critics especially fans who are equipped with theories have expectations. As much as we want those to be true, you won’t find those here.
These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
In fact, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is quite unrecognizable.

Rey develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares for battle with the First Order.
While The Force Awakens literally awakened a nostalgic feeling, The Last Jedi completely shattered it. Director Rian Johnson took a great and challenging step by using a complex plot making Episode VIII unrecognizable. Yes, The Last Jedi is very different but that change is very acceptable.
You have to consider that Episode VIII is the second installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. It bridges the gap between the past and the future. I have to admit though that there was a struggle in the beginning of the film towards the middle.
The reason behind this is the number of characters with their own story making it difficult to weave; however, exposing the emotional wounds and flaws especially of the Resistance made them more grounded. This influenced their actions that helped put together the grand finale.
Honestly, I think that The Last Jedi is well-produced. Though it does give a different vibe, the trademark Star Wars battle and lightsaber duels we all love are still there. In fact, Rey and Kylo Ren’s fight scenes are always well-choreographed. You’ll definitely enjoy their performance here.
With that being said, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a must-see movie plus it does offer a good starting point that will make people excited for Episode IX.
