What to Watch Before the World Turns Upside Down

Have you seen Stranger Things season 1? Well, the world turns Upside Down for the second time on October 27.

Upon learning the release date of my favorite Netflix series, I had the sudden urge to constantly watch movies or series that are weird or horror related. Though “It” is still in cinemas, I already watched it last month. Don’t get me wrong. It is a great film adaptation and I can’t wait for the second chapter but I can’t watch it again on the big screen.

So, what’s the best thing to do?

Consult Google.

There are several movies & TV shows we can watch online. In fact, I first thought of famous movie franchises such as Halloween, Final Destination, Friday the 13th, and Scream. But none appealed to me because I’ve seen them. After a little digging, I stumbled upon the following.

It Follows (A must watch)
Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell

The 2014 American supernatural and psychological horror film debuted at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and received critical acclaim. It stars Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi, and Lili Sepe.

“It Follows” is about Jay, a teenage girl who is pursued by a supernatural entity after a sexual encounter.

I can’t say much about this film because it will spoil everything. All I can say is I watched this with a couple of friends and was surprised by the different interpretations. It follows a simple plot but the execution was on point; not to mention, the hidden issues you can find once you open your eyes. *Available on Netflix

Little Evil
Written and directed by Eli Craig

After the cult horror comedy movie Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Eli Craig is back with the 2017 American horror comedy film which stars Adam Scott, Evangeline Lilly, Bridget Everett. “Little Evil” is about a newly married man who starts to believe that his 5-year-old stepson is the spawn of Satan.

Yep, that line says everything. If you want to take a break from serious plots, you will surely enjoy this film. The film can be a little to very dark at times. But with the addition of absurdity, “Little Evil” is quite entertaining. *Available on Netflix

“It Follows” and “Little Evil” are both available on Netflix. But besides the world’s leading Internet television network, there’s another platform you should also consider. YouTube, world’s biggest video-sharing website features several great channels.

Crypt TV

Crypt TV has over 14,011,966 total views. According to their channel info, the creators love scary stories and collaborate with storytellers around the globe. They bring monsters stories to life for free, everyday.

Mr. Nightmare

If you love scary stories but can’t watch them, I recommend Mr. Nightmare’s YouTube Channel. He accepts and narrates stories that are weird, scary and dark. Take note, he does not accept creepypastas or any other fiction. His channel aims to only focus on real topics! With 369,157,027 views, I assure you that this channel will give you nightmares.

Btw, here’s the final trailer for Stranger Things 2.

Enjoy watching!
