Are you familiar with Clevver TV? They have a YouTube channel called Clevver Style where they feature a beauty show called Beauty Break. I’m a fan of this crazy show as well as Lunchy Break. When they go out for lunch, I always hear the Clevver girls especially Lily say Chili’s. In one Lunchy break episode, she even mentioned she’s very passionate about Chili’s. And being a fan from another continent got me curious, very curious.
Do we have Chili’s in the Philippines?
YES, WE DO!
Chili’s has been in the country for 18 years now. (How could I not know?) Then I remembered when I was still working at the Greenhills area which was 7-8 years ago, I did see it. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to visit. So where’s the nearest branch? U.P Town Center is near. Tomas Morato, Fairview Terraces and SM Megamall are also fine but I don’t pass by those areas. Plus, talk about traffic.
Come Father’s Day, I was surprised when my godfather who is more like my real father texted me to head over to the second floor of SM City – The Block. There I saw the logo and the oh so festive restaurant (because Father’s Day).
What I like about Chili’s is the number of delicious choices – Appetizers, Salads, Soups & Chili, Handhelds (sandwich), Craft Burgers, Fajitas, Fresh Mex Bowls, Tacos & Quesadillas, Baby Back Ribs, Chops, Steaks, Pastas, Chicken & Seafood. They even have Lighter Choices, Sweet Stuff, a Kid’s Menu and a wide variety of beverage – Margaritas, Specialty Drinks & Wine.
For our first visit, we tried two of their Lighter Choices: Mango-Chile Chicken and Margarita Grilled Chicken as well as their Craft Burger called the Old Timer Burger.
I kept wondering why they call these Lighter Choices. There’s clearly a lot going on and the serving is more than enough. The staff who assisted us explained that these offer all the flavors for less calories.
Btw, thank you to the friendly staff. They were attentive and accommodating. They even assisted my grandmother with her needs.
In the Mango-Chile Chicken’s case, the grilled chicken breast is seasoned with 6-pepper blend, drizzled with spicy habanero and mango glaze topped with more mango, cilantro, house-made pico de gallo and fresh diced avocado. This is served with Chili’s rice and steamed veggies with Parmesan cheese. Though this is my grandmother’s order, I was able to taste it and boy was it delicious!
Margarita Grilled Chicken, on the other hand, was mine. The name sounds simple but when you taste all the flavors and texture, you’ll be in for a surprise. That surprise, my friend, is the mixture of a well-marinated grilled chicken breast with house-made pico de gallo and crispy tortilla strips. A big YES to the crispy tortilla chips. This is also served with rice and black beans. I’m not a fan of beans but it worked quite well for this dish.
Now onto the Craft Burger. As mentioned, we tried their Old Timer Burger, a chili’s classic. It’s hand-seasoned beef patty is indeed perfect. My godfather and I love burgers. Our favorite burger joint is Chunky Sam’s and we recently found a new joint that also serve delicious burgers – TanTan Diner. Now, we are adding Chili’s burger to our list.
Do you love burgers, too? Experience Chili’s new flavor creations – Magnificent Beef & Shrimp, Shrimp Masterpieces, Bacon Perfection Bites, and Sunrise Burgers.
Are you ready to chill and fall in love with Chili’s? Their newest branch is located at The Block, 2nd Floor, SM Ctiy North EDSA, North Avenue Quezon City.
