Internet giant Google recently updated their android apps.
First, we have the Inbox. It is not Gmail but it came from the same people who introduced Gmail. The Inbox is built to fit your life. It works for you. Second is the brand new Google Calendar app which is designed to help you manage your day while enjoying it. Third is the Gmail app for android that comes with a modern and sleek design.
From the Inbox that works for you, to the Gmail app for Android and the new Google Calendar, now comes the Messenger.
With the new standalone Messenger, users can share faster. Simply select or take pictures and videos from the app itself and share it easily. Apart from that, audio messages are enabled which you can also send to your contacts.
Similar to the Gmail android update, the Messenger’s design is fluid making your searches for your contacts and conversation threads easier. Not only that, you get more control. You can block SMS senders (useful for scammers)! Other features include: emoji support :), colored text threads, message archiving and more.
Messenger is supported on devices running Android™ 4.1, Jelly Bean, and above.
What about Google’s Hangouts?
Hmm… I use Hangouts app a few times a week and I can rate it as a good one. I think it won’t be going away soon. However, there are multiple apps that have the similar features as Google’s Messenger and may be even better. Not to mention, some users install one or more text messaging apps on their smartphones. I wonder which ones users will use and what updates Google will be doing in the future.
